In the event that any of our equipment we provide you breaks or loosens, call our office immediately.
Below is a list of emergency situations that can arise from our dental procedures:
Pain, discomfort and soreness are common during the first week after you put your braces. We recommend that you take a non-aspirin based pain reliever to soothe the pain while you adjust to the new braces. Alternatively, apply a warm cloth or warm salt water regularly to reduce any soreness in your jaws.
It is common amongst patients to lose a separator. In fact, most of our patients lose them during treatment. There is no need to worry about a lost separator. Contact our office immediately to see about a replacement.
Discomfort caused by a wire on your braces can be quickly resolved by moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab. If the wire doesn’t move, you can cut it by using scissors that have been sterilized in alcohol. If you still feel irritation from the wire and it can’t be resolved, contact us to schedule an appointment immediately.
Emergencies can happen and there is no need to panic if you are experiencing irritation or have lost any of our appliances. We realize that these things happen, and we are always ready to assist you in cases of emergency. Contact our office, we are here to help.
